Have any of you ever been to Whole Foods and had their Kalicious Smoothie from the juice bar? Well... if you got hooked on those like I did then your wallet is gonna LOVE this recipe now that you can make it at home :)
Kalicious Smoothie:
Ingredients:
-1 Cup of Spinach {pressed down}
-1 1/2 Cup of Apple Juice {Not from Concentrate is the key}
-1/2 Lemon {peel the lemon like you would an orange and use the slices}
-1 Banana
-6-7 Ice cubes
Directions:
Place everything into a blender and blend on HIGH till everything is nice and smoothie :) Yes, it's that easy!
Why is this so AMAZING for you??
To start off Kale and Spinach are leafy greens that are high in Vitamin C, K, and A, they contain lots of antioxidants and an unusually high amount of fiber...Lemon actually helps strengthen your immune system...and the Apples & Banana...I mean what's not healthy about those? :)
**If you tend to be a bit more particular and really want a nice, almost liquid, texture to your smoothie try juicing the Kale, Spinach and Lemon first (if you have a juicer)....then take that juice plus the leftover kale, spinach, and lemon that the juicer spits into the "waste" container and add all that to the blender with ice, banana and apple juice! Just another way of going about it! **Now that I have shared with you one of my favorite smoothie recipes, share yours with me! What's your favorite?

ReplyDeleteJust fell in love with this smoothie at Whole Foods, came home to see if I could find the recipe online - so glad you posted this! I'm wondering if it would work to use regular apples instead of juice. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren! Yes, it does work {I tried both ways}, but I found that when you use actual apples the smoothie turns out to be very thick....so it's just a personal preference thing :) If you are having trouble finding not from concentrate apple juice, you can find it in one gallon glass jars at Whole Foods
