Organic Weed Killer

Owning our first home has been so much fun, challenging at times, but for the most part, just sheer JOY! Although we haven't moved in yet, due to the renovations that are taking place inside the house, I thought  it was time to start working on the outside...first up, KILLING THE WEEDS!

I headed over to Lowe's and talked with a gardening specialist about how exactly we recover our lawn from this dreadful, half grass half mud, construction state that it's in....remember this is my first house, I have no idea what I'm doing!  He said that we needed to kill everything first and start new....sounds time consuming and EXPENSIVE to me!  He lead me over to the weed killing aisle where he recommended a little chemical called RoundUp, to do the job.  Can you say buzz kill? All the sudden my mood went from an optimistic-I-can-get-this-done-today state to 'Okay, time to do research'.

Round Up is made by Monsanto, the seed company that is taking over the food industry, going in and genetically modifying our food and then fighting the labeling law to cover it up!  Not only that, but they are monopolizing the food and farming industry by patenting these seeds and then suing good, innocent farmers when Monsanto's seeds "naturally spread" onto their land and grow without them paying for them....It's too much to get into now...but if you want to learn more check out Food Inc. !


I don't mean to sound so eccentric but I was NOT about to even consider buying a product made by Monsanto....just can't do it....I know to much.  Aside from the fact that I am not their biggest fan, Round Up weed killer has been known to have some pretty harmful effects on humans, especially women, including doubling the risk of late miscarriages and extremely high levels of premature births.  Think about how often your yard is walked and played in...so not only are you, your children and your pets getting direct exposure to this VERY POWERFUL chemical, it is being tracked in your house and car...you're basically living in it!!

So I did some research and think I have found a great, non-toxic, chemical free, ORGANIC weed killer that you are gonna just LOVE...with just 2 simple ingredients!


Organic Weed Killer
-1 Quart Organic or Regular White Vinegar
-1/4 cup Organic or Regular Lemon Juice
-Spray Bottle


Mix the two ingredients into a spray bottle and there you have it!  Spray it directly onto the weeds and for best results spray it on mid-day while the sun is out :)
